SOUND: INSIDE TRAIN TERMINAL, ANNOUNCER’S VOICE IN BACKGROUND, LOW CROWD NOISE, OCCASIONAL TRAIN NOISES
NARRATOR: Oh no! Where’s my ticket? It has to be here somewhere… Wait, here it is. Phew! Thank goodness! Without this I wouldn’t have been able to get on the train.
SOUND: MAN YELLING “HEY!”
NARRATOR: Oh, sorry! I didn’t mean to run into you, I was looking for my train. I’m going to Mystique! This year’s theme is a train ride to New York City to check out the Asian cultural festival taking place. I can’t wait! Hey, if you’re not busy, you should check it out, too.
SOUND: MAN SAYING “HUH?”
NARRATOR: What? Don’t tell me you don’t what Mystique is. It’s only The College of New Jersey’s biggest cultural event of the year! (PAUSE) Still not ringing any bells? Let me fill you in. At TCNJ, there’s an organization called the Asian American Association. The AAA consists of students of all races striving to spread awareness of Asian culture within the campus and in the community. Mystique is their big annual showcase where all of the students perform for the public, and it’s going on this weekend in Kendall Hall!
SOUND: MAN SAYING “OHHH…”
NARRATOR: I hear there’s going to be Iron Fan and Spear Dance, Taiko drumming, Lion dance, Chinese Yo-Yo, martial arts, and a lot more. It’s a fantastic chance to check out Asian performances like you’ve never seen before. You know, broaden your horizons and get a little taste of the East! Come on, you don’t seriously want to wait a whole year for Mystique to come around again, do you?
SOUND: TRAIN WHISTLE, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY TRAIN STARTING TO LEAVE

WOW Tim!!! I thought this podcast was great. It was a informational but also had a commercial-type feel to it. I loved that you added the train station backing track, it really felt as if you were in a train station. I also thought it was cool how you brought in the sound effects of the train conductor. You really laid out the Mystique show, and I could easily follow what you were saying. The only criticism I might have, and it's not even criticism would be to maybe talk a little bit faster at points. Sometimes it sounded a little stretched out, but I understand that you didn't want to rush what you were saying. I could really see you acting this, your voice had really great character. Overall I am completely blown away and impressed with this podcast, great job!!
Tim, that was just awesome. I didn't even think of doing my podcast as a live act type of thing, but you achieved that effect masterfully. I could honestly envision your piece as a great radio advertisement for mystique. It did actually make me wish i had gone, so you are certainly good at selling an idea. If I had to make a criticism, it would be that sometimes your train-station sound effects seemed to take away from what you were trying to say, so maybe in the future adjust your levels some more. Also, the face you read at was a bit slow, and I could see some people losing interest. As for your writing, I could argue that you didn't really have an informative introduction, but your approach was successful anyway since it drew me in and made me want to listen more. Overall, your piece was unconventional, but I think it really worked for you.
Tim,
This podcast was great! I loved the sound affects of the train station, it really added to your piece and made sense. The piece was well-written and provided a lot of information on Mystique. At times the sound effects overpowered your voice and I wished you spoke a little louder. Otherwise, I really followed your piece and thought it was very creative.
Tim,
The piece had this actuality radio feel to it. Although written more like a promo/commercial for Mystique, it was conversational and offered a rich and clever writing style. Good broadcast quality writing.
Woo-hoo! Tim! Nice job! You really have a good grip on some of the technological aspects here. Your editing was fantastic. The sound effects are very impressive. As far as the writing goes, you can tell you know a lot about what you're talking abut. It sounds like you're really passionate about it too! After listening to this podcast, I feel like I was already at the Mystique show. You had it down! My only criticisms: At times, the background noise was a little overwhelming, and you seemed to be speaking a little bit slow sometimes as well. Overall, though, I think you did an excellent job! I'm thoroughly impressed! :c)
